My name is Victoria Stankus, wife to Rev. David Stankus for the past 30+ years. We met while attendingThe Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. We have two adult children. Our oldest is a 24-year-old young lady with autism, whom we call EL for short. Our youngest (Jon, or JJ for short) is a 20-year-old adventurous, creative young man who works great with his hands. We were a homeschooling family for 16 years and, if you want, you can read about some of the fun we had over at our homeschool blog: SONset Academy. Now that I am retired from teaching, I am our daughter's Personal Support Worker (Caregiver), and also provide support to my mom when needed. In my spare time, I am a freelance writer. I am no longer very active on this blog but do still try to post occasionally on our Facebook page.
I am a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, trusting in Him alone for the forgiveness of my sins. I know I am not perfect; but, with God's help, I continue to learn and grow every day, striving to be the best I can be - for HIM. I don't believe our main purpose is to please ourselves and to see how successful we can become in life. We are here on this earth to serve the Lord with gladness, glorifying Him in our words, in our thoughts, in our actions, and by using the gifts/talents He gave us. This blog was made for that very reason - to serve Him by doing what I love to do: WRITE and ENCOURAGE.
My favorite verse since High School has been Isaiah 41:13 (see in the heading above). It has been a comfort and strength to me through the years, knowing God has been there to hold my hand. It is my hope that this verse, and this blog, will be an encouragement to you as well, as we continue our journey here on earth.
Thanks for stopping by!
Eph 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (NIV)
